The best sugar cookie in the world definitely has cream cheese in it! Cream cheese makes everything better and these cookies are no exception. A delightful balance of sweet and savory.
I figured that I couldn’t have a Christmas cookie series without a classic, iced sugar cookie. I stepped up my sugar cookie game too!
Yes, I added the luscious, creamy, ultimate master of the cheeses – Cream Cheese!
It helped create a kind of shell for the exterior and a soft, fluffy inside. These are so super-duper addictive. The icing that we coated these wonderful sugar cookies with is the same one from Granny’s Grease Cookies, just tinted blue instead of green.
We were actually going to make cutout cookies because this dough is ideal for that but all of my cutters have mysteriously vanished.
Hint, hint – I have three little boys who LOVE play dough! But that’s just my sneaking suspicion. So we just rolled these into little balls and flattened them slightly with our fingers to make round cookie shapes.
My middle baby, who is 4-years-old, wasn’t feeling too great today so I let him choose the color of the icing and the sprinkles. He got to dip them in the icing and do the sprinkles – he had fun! Cookies always make little boys tummies feel better right?
I have made what feels like a million cookies within the past 12 days! It was all worth it to share some of my families favorite cookie recipes.
12 Days of Christmas Cookies was a smashing, sugary success! The Hubster has been taking cookies to work every day and I think all the guys he works with are starting to expect it. He will leave with a huge bursting bag of them and come home with crumbs! I am SO thankful that they appreciate it and that we don’t have thousands of cookies just sitting around our house.
He did come home with a request: An assorted cookie platter for the week before Christmas.
I told him that I had made enough cookies until next Christmas so maybe we will cheat and just buy an assorted cookie platter. SHHH!
I Hope you enjoyed my 12 Days of Christmas Cookies!
